The headquarters of the Central military district in Ekaterinburg

The building in Stalin Empire style built in the late 1930-ies by the architect A. M. Dukelsky. The headquarters complex built by the order of the Ural military district (in 2001 on the basis of the Ural and Volga districts was formed Privolzhsko-Uralskiy military district, and in 2010 PUrVO and the Western part of the Siberian military District were merged into the Central military district) for its officers. In the composition of the complex are reflected theoretical and practical development of the new structure of the quarter in the Soviet architecture of the 1930-ies - multifunctionality with the use of internal space, the ensemble. The complex consists of the Headquarters building and canteen, two houses and the building of the sports club, connected compositionally and functionally. U-shaped monumental building of Headquarter is an example of so-called "Stalin Empire style", the main facade is decorated with concrete terrain with symbols of the invincibility of the red army: heavy tanks, and a giant plane "Maxim Gorky". Interesting fact that in front of the Headquarters building is situated a monument to Marshal G. K. Zhukov (sculptor K. V. Grunberg), established in 1995 to the 50th anniversary of the Victory, simultaneously with the monument to Zhukov at the Manege square in Moscow. In the opinion of many, the Ural monument is better than Moscow fellow, and the Marshal of a thick-as in life; and the horse under Marshal is powerful, not graceful as Moscow Trotter. The monument stands there for a reason: at the end of the 1940's-early 1950-ies Zhukov was the commander of the Urals military district.
