In this house in 1885-1891, lived the famous Ural writer Dmitry Narkisovich Mamin-Sibiryak. This house was bought by the writer A. N. Mamin-Sibiryak in 1885 on the compensation received for the novel "Privalovskiye millions". In this house lived all Mamin's family: the writer's mother, his brother and sister. It was decided to found a museum in the 1930-ies and in 1946, museum received its first visitors. The atmosphere of the house is carefully preserved by staff of the Museum. The exhibition reveals the writer's laboratory, talks about working on the most important works. The story about work of Mamin-Sibiryak happens on the background of family life, relations with spiritually close to the writer people who have always been part of the artistic world of the writer. The house-Museum of Mamin-Sibiryak filled with images, allegories, secret meanings. Furnished and the interiors combine genuine and stylish items, but behind all this there is the writer's personality, his thoughts, creative ideas and created works. Interesting fact that to the 150 anniversary from the birthday of the writer in 2002, the Russia's writers ' Union and the Association of Ural writers have established a Prize named A. N. Mamin-Sibiryak, annually awarded authors whose work is somehow connected with the Urals. The first award ceremony was held in November 2002 in the homeland of the writer, in the village Visim of Sverdlovsk region.
