The house-Museum of F. M. Reshetnikov in Ekaterinburg

 The museum is situated in the house which was built in the 40-ies of the XIX century by merchant Karnauhov. The last owner of the house was the wife of the local postmaster, took room to postal employees. In 1841 in walls the old two-story mansion on the street Proletarskaya (former Ofitserskaya) in the family of a postman was born Fedor Mikhailovich Reshetnikov, the future writer of the Urals.

Literary and memorial part of the Museum are inextricably linked, because the writer was born in the family of a postman, and many characters in works of Reshetnikov are letter carriers and coachman. The story about the life and work of the writer goes into the account of the postal service of the XIX century, its traditions and customs. The Museum were reproduced coachman room, stables and coach house. There are items of the road life, postal vehicles, household utensils - all this thigs create the atmosphere of the Ural post court of second half of XIX century. Along with the House of the station master, in Wir near St. Petersburg, the house-Museum of F. M. Reshetnikov is the only Russian Museum, which recreates the life of the post office.
