The building was built in 1926-1928, designed by architect I. S. Guriev-Gurevich. In the XIX century on this place was a one-story building in the spirit of classicism, Gostiny Dvor. He stood there for more than a century and burnt down in a fire in 1902. Gostiny Dvor began to be rebuilt in art Nouveau style, but was prevented by the First world war, and then the revolution. Later rebuilt part of the new building was used during the construction in 1926-1928 business houses for Prombank. Many of the projects of administrative buildings of the future Great Sverdlovsk was developed in the framework of the all-Union competitions. The first of these was held in 1925 at the building of PromBank. The competition was attended by Ural and Moscow architects. The winning project of the architect I. S. Guriev-Gurevich was realized under the direction of engineer I. N. Krysov.
The building of PromBank has L-shaped form with rounded extended volume in the corner. Facades it is facing the street 8 Marta, and lane Teatralniy . The main entrance to the PromBank was designed in the corner niche of high first floor and highlighted on the facade of the high-balcony-visor, located on four frame columns, between which built the high stairs. In the composition of facades of the building dominates horizontal elements: suspended ceilings, cornices, parapets, which with soft plastic rounded corner bring expressive nuance in the constructivist shape of the building. Interesting fact that the Building was designed and built as a Bank, but when construction was transferred to other institutions. For many years it housed the famous shop of children's clothes and school supplies "Leopold", known to every Sverdlovsk resident.
