The Church of Alexander Nevsky in Nizhnyaya Salda

Alexander Nevsky Church was consecrated in 1905. The Church was erected by the project of famous architect of Ekaterinburg Diocese S.S. Kozlov. The construction of the Church was in charge of Grum-Grzhimailo, and the Chairman of the Committee was K.P.Polenov. The Church was built mainly on donations of parishioners.

Amazingly beautiful looked the Church fence around the perimeter to cut the limestone, plaster in a light gray color. In the interior Church walls were painted a light yellowish-brown color with bog areas. Fireplaces are high, covered with shiny black lacquer. The altar, the lectern, the iconostasis, the faces of the saints and icons, marble slabs, floor, is covered with glazed tiles, and colored chandelier created a solemn atmosphere.

In 1930s, at the direction of the authorities, despite resistance from the residents, the Church was closed for services. First, there has arranged shooting, then club. Before 1970 in the prayer room was located cinema. And then, during of 17 years, the building was empty.

Only in 1989 the Church in a dilapidated state was returned to believers. Then it began regular services along with restoration works, which continues to this day.

The Church is a monument of architecture of the beginning of XX century.
