Church in the name of George in village Sloboda
The main decoration of the village Sloboda is the beautiful Church in the name of George. It is beautifully situated on a rock above the river Chusovaya.
At first Church on this place was made of wood. In 1806 was laid a stone Church, but its construction was not easy. The temple was consecrated in 1831. The construction of the new Church was completed only in 1894. It was from that time the Church got its present appearance.
The Church is notable that in Soviet time it was not polluted and is not closed. One of the few in the Urals.
Village of Sloboda is one of the oldest villages in the Middle Urals. It was founded in 1651. Later, in the beginning of XVIII century in the mouth of the river Utka built hithe, where down the Chusovaya river went caravans with iron.
Now Sloboda is situated on both banks of the Chusovaya river. These two parts of the village combines with the bridge.
