Nature Park "Reka Chusovaya"
Protected areas of regional significance Nature Park "Reka Chusovaya" was created in 2004 by the decision of the government of the Sverdlovsk region in order to ensure environmentally favorable living conditions of the population, improvement of recreation conditions, biodiversity, reducing the anthropogenic load on the territory. The Park's territory is vast and consists of two parts: Chusovskoy and Visimskiy. Chusovskoy occupies 56 771 hectars,along the length of the river Chusovaya 148 kilometers from Safronninskiy rock near Pervouralsk to rock Samarinskiy near the border with Perm region, crossing from the South-East to North-West territories of four urban districts: the village Staroutkinsk, Shalinskiy city district, Gornouralskiy city district and Nizhniy Tagil.
Breaking through multimeter thickness of sedimentary rocks, limestones, Dolomites, shale, formed 400 - 300 million years ago at the bottom of the Ural paleoocean, the Chusovaya river has a very winding track. On the wooded shores of its majestically standing stones - rocks. Each has its own name, which in XVIII century rafters of barques noticed characteristic of or associated with any legend: Afoniny's eyebrows, Krasniy, Dyrovatiy, Pech... the Most dangerous of them called "fighters": Omutniy, Oleniy, Slolbi... On the territory of the Park there are more than 100 rocks.
Chusovaya river has a great scientific value. According to geologists, rocky outcrops along its banks are geological and paleontological monuments of nature. Most rocks are geomorphological monuments due to its unusual shape, size, color, karst processes. The caves of the Chusovaya river are unique archeological monuments, such as caves of Dyrovaty rock, grotto on the rock Dozhdevoy. The value of the rocks and the rivers of the Park in the fact that they are the habitat of endemic, relict, rare and endangered species of flora and fauna listed in the Red Lists of different ranks. Unique picturesque and unique valley landscapes of the river itself and its tributaries.
Visimskiy plot with the square of 20 375 hectares covers the territory adjacent to the villages Visim and Visimo-Utkinsk. On this territory there is a nature monument — the lake Bezdonnoye, the objects of industrial heritage. The village Visim is the Motherland of Russian writer D.N Mamin-Sibiryak.
Today, the Park is a popular place for tourism and rest. The main tourist route runs along the river Chusovaya.Every year thousands of tourists from the Sverdlovsk region and other parts of Russia came here.
To preserve the unique natural objects of the Park and to protect local cultural-historical values and use them in educational and recreational purposes was created State institution of Sverdlovsk region "Nature Park "Reka Chusovaya". The establishment is situated in Nizhny Tagil.
