The Ekaterinburg state circus named after V.I. Filatov
The Ekaterinburg State circus is located in a picturesque place of Ekaterinburg city, on the Bank of the Iset river, at the intersection streets of Kuibyshev — 8 Marta. Opened on 1 February 1980. By its design, the building is considered to be one of the best in Europe, and adapted to the most demanding of productions, and its interior is decorated with Ural stone. In the circus there are 2 558 seats, two arena (basic and rehearsal). More than 20 million people visited the circus during its existence. Circus got the name of our fellow countryman, honoured artist of the USSR, talented tamer Valentin Filatov. Circus is growing due box of the unique circus performances, shows and festivals. Annual Billboard circus includes performance, designed for different audiences, but preference is given to children: they are the primary audience, especially in the school holidays.
An important cultural event of 2006 was the play "take care of clowns!", dedicated to the memory of Yuri Nikulin. The show, that have no analogues in Russia, immediately received public recognition and prompt to display in Moscow.
In 2008, the circus was the organizer of the First world festival of clowns. This Festival has attracted great interest from all over the world circus public, and attracted the attention of the audience and became a grandiose event in cultural life of our city and Russia. Within five days the stars of clowning around the world rejoiced Ekaterinburg viewers with their reprise. As a results of the first festival A.P. Marchevskiy decided to make the world festival of clowns annual!
In the arena of the Ekaterinburg circus successfully get up the concerts with participation of stars of the Russian and foreign music, music festivals.
Many institutions, enterprises and organizations of city and region carry out their anniversaries together with the circus.
