The Peter and Paul cave in Severouralsk

The Peter and Paul cave is located in the centre of the city under Peter & Paul Church. Actually it got its name becouse of location. Peter and Paul cave is geomorphological, archaeological and historical monument of nature. How to say people who visited cave, it decorated with stalactites and stalagmites and wandering bark. Here were found the bones of ancient animals, including cave bear and mammoth. The cave is double-deck. Low moves dominated in it, but there is also a large, high halls, reaching a height of 8 meters. In the past in the cave was a lake depth to 4 metres, but due to the lowering of the water level of the river Kolonga it was dry. The total length of the cave reaches 370 meters, the depth is 11 metres. According to the legends into the cave led a secret underground passage from standing over it temple.
