The house of Sevastyanov in Ekaterinburg
Sevastyanov's house is a beautiful old mansion on the shore of the city pond, one of the main landmarks of Ekaterinburg. There is no similar buildings in architecture no longer in Ekaterinburg, but throughout the Urals.
The first mention of the house historians refer to 1817. Originally the house was built for the surveyor I. Palkova, but it repeatedly changed its owners. In 1860, three-storey house bought collegiate assessor N. Sevastyanov and six years later by the project of A.I. Paduchev the house was reconstructed. Thanks Paduchevahouse was decorated with intricate Gothic decor with Baroque elements.
Who is this Sevastyanov? Nikolai Sevastyanov was an ordinary official of the mining Department. During the Crimean war was responsible for the delivery of products of the Ural factories and somehow was able to amass a fortune. According to popular legend Sevastyanov was so rich that he wanted to cover the roof of gold, however, have the highest resolution. However, the veracity of the legend can be questioned, since Sevastyanov never even lived in this house. Huddling in a modest wooden house close by, he leased this mansion.
In 1880 Sevastyanov sold his house to the Treasury. It was used as a state institution - regional court.
Over time, the District court began to feel a bit crowded. In 1914 under the guidance of architect A.A. Fedorov, the building was extended. Appeared the annex along the modern Avenue of Lenin. In the same year, on the facade of the corner rotunda appeared the words "the District court".
In violent 1917 the building burst into revolutionary-minded soldiers of Achinsk infantry regiment and destroyed everything that came to hand.
A year later, the building housed the first in the country the Ural Commissariat of labour.
For many decades in the Soviet times the house was occupied by the regional Council of trade unions. The inscription on the facade of the rotunda was replaced by the "House of Unions".
In 2008, the building was closed for capital reconstruction. Here was placed the residence of the President of Russia, in which it was only once - during the SCO summit.
