The monument of the Ural volunteer tank corps in Ekaterinburg

The monument of the Ural volunteer tank corps, dedicated to the heroism of soldiers of the Urals volunteer tank corps t was opened on February 23, 1962, sculptors V. M. Druzin and P. A. Sazhin. Total height of the monument is almost 14 metres. Bronze 6-metre figure of a worker and a tanker emphasize the unity of the rear and front and installed on architectural-style tank-pedestal of polished granite Urals.

The reliefs on the pedestal tell us about military and labour feats of Urals in 1941-1945, the unbreakable bond of the front and rear. Ural volunteer tank corps (30th tank corps was formed in 1943 and equipped with weapons and equipment, manufactured by workers in Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Molotov areas (now Perm region), unpaid work over the plan and on voluntary contributions. The staff of the corps was also recruited from the Urals. The first battle of the corps adopted on July 27, 1943, in the second phase of the battle of Kursk. Two years of participation in the battles of the case was held from Orel to Prague over 5500 km 27 soldiers and sergeants began a full Cavaliers of the order of Glory, 38 - heroes of the Soviet Union.
