The house of the head of mining plants in Ekaterinburg

Built in the first half of the XIX century by the architect M. P. Malakhov, the house was a private residence of the Main chief of mining plants of the Urals mountain range. The design and construction of residential houses for the Perm Berg-inspector Bulgakov from 1817 was led by architect M. P. Malakhov. In the early 1830s, the house was bought and rebuilt by the Treasury for the residence of the Main mountain of the head. The residence was a large estate with courtyard from the North, and garden from the South. Its first owner was General Vladimir Andreevich Glinka, a distant relative of the famous composer. The post of the main chief, he has held for nearly twenty years (from 1837 to 1856) - longer than any of his predecessors and successors. As the actual owner of the Urals, he liked to say: "I am the king and God of the Ural ridge!" The General was a person extremely active, vibrant and left a good memory about himself, his business and his impeccable honesty. After 1857 the owner of a residence became F. I. Falkner, then A. A. Iossa and all subsequent mining bosses. In 1930, the building has undergone by significant changes. Interesting fact that In the residence there is a magnificent ballroom and luxurious apartment for guests, the celebrities which repeatedly coming to the city stayed there. There in 1837 during his visit to Ekaterinburg stopped the heir to the throne, the future Emperor Alexander II with his mentor, a poet of the V. A. Zhukovskiy.
